These performances are aimed to deal with anxiety between an outside group of people and myself. I would lack control in the situation (to some extent) and they would be asked to do something they may not feel comfortable doing.
Performance to Evoke Anxiety A
Possible Locations: My apartment, a field in the snow, one of the performance/installation spaces that are available through mica.
Props: A table of objects (10 gallons of water, one gallon of vodka, a tray of glass, blindfold, cigarettes, lighter, paper, pen, black drape, medical supplies, a tape recorder, a video recorder, a disposable camera.
A group of people would come one by one to interact with the space anonymously, no one would know how I would start the performance or what the previous person did to alter the space/me. This performance could take place on a friday or saturday to avoid the limitations involved with working in a classroom.
Performance to Evoke Anxiety B
Invitations are sent to a group of 25 people. When they arrive at my apartment, I am not there and they are invited to rifle through my apartment anonymously for 5 minutes. The guests would be given cameras. The object of this is to test or develop a trust and anxiety by the odd task at hand for the classmates combined with my lack of control in what they discover.
